Topics and History

This workshop is aimed to bring together experts in the field of nonlinear partial differential equations from Chile, Japan, and other countries. The meeting is mostly intended to present recent advances in the analysis of nonlinear elliptic and parabolic problems, a subject in which big progress has been made in recent years. This type of problems plays a key role in modeling biological pattern formation, mathematical ecology, material science and superconductivity, among other fields.

Topics covered will include: asymptotic and blow-up behavior in parabolic equations and systems, critical exponents, singular limits from the variational and perturbation viewpoints.

The first edition of this workshop took place in Santiago (Chile) in October 23 - 26, 2007.
