Upon reaching Narita airport, you must take a train to Tokyo Station,
where you can board the Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train).
There are two options.
- 1.
- One option is the N'EX (Narita Express) train.
It takes about one hour to reach Tokyo Station,
and the cost is 2,940 yen ($29).
It leaves Narita Airport about once an hour,
and you must have a seat reservation.
If all seats are already reserved, then you may use the second option.
- 2.
- The second option is the Airport Narita train.
It takes about 90 minutes to reach Tokyo Station,
but the fare is considerably cheaper, about 1,280 yen ($12).
This train also leaves about once an hour, but no seat
reservations are necessary.
One can buy a ticket for this train at a ticket vending machine.
The N'EX train is a little more convenient,
but the Airport Narita train is not much less so.
If you have any difficulties, there are information desks in the airport
with English speaking attendants.
